The word "detox" gets attached to all kinds of diets, teas and supplements claiming to clear toxins from the body, yet there's little solid evidence that any of them do more than a healthy liver and kidneys already manage on their own, around the clock. Many of these plans are also low in calories and nutrients, which can leave people feeling worse rather than refreshed.
If the goal is to support the body's own processes, the reliable route is also the least exciting: drink enough water, eat generous amounts of fruit and vegetables, cut back on alcohol and heavily processed food, and prioritise sleep. Our healthy diets page goes into this in more detail.
